Original Cotton Sleep Cap

Original cotton sleep cap.  These were extensively issued to reserve and territorial units throughout the war.  They were also issued to wounded men as part of their replacement clothing while in hospital.  It was a common belief up into the early 20th century that sleeping with your head uncovered would lead to sickness.  These are difficult to find in any condition.
